Flying Monsters

3D

Written and presented by the inimitable Sir David Attenborough, Flying Monsters is a fascinating documentary that boasts stunning 3D visuals throughout its 70 minutes duration. Along the way, we are treated to CGI Dinosaurs flying through an assortment of spectacular environments...from prehistoric forests to tropical mountains and the huge expanses of oceans. If that wasn't enough, Sir Attenborough's own Journey takes us to the spacious coastlines of Dorset, a quarry in Germany and the open corridors and imposing facade of the Natural History Museum, as we discover the origins of the fossils of these creatures. All perfect locations to make the most of the 3D technology. The 3D image looks gloriously crystal clear and considering the type of family friendly material on view, kudos have to go to the film-makers who have set the parallax at an impressively wide level. As a bonus feature, there is also a 48 minute "Making of" documentary which explores the problems faced with shooting in 3D at the various locations.

The Blu-ray 3D of Flying Monsters can be usually bought at a reasonable price and it deserves to sit on the shelf of any self-respecting 3D enthusiast. (v)
